Defend
Yourselves |
| |
Microsoft
has released a new version of their free to download Anti-Spyware
package, which they’ve titled Windows Defender. Spyware
can cause Windows users a number of problems, including slow
computer performance, annoying pop-up ads, unwanted changes
to Internet settings, and unauthorized use of your private information.
Your PC can get infected with Spyware by being installed by
Web sites, downloaded programs, or a program you might install
from a CD-ROM or floppy disk. Spyware is most commonly installed
through free software, such as file sharing programs, screen
savers, or search toolbars. By downloading Windows Defender
from the Microsoft website you can not only undo any harm that
may have been caused to your PC whilst unprotected, but also
defend against the same thing happening again.
When you install Windows Defender, you can immediately scan
for spyware and other unwanted software that might be installed
on your computer. |

You can schedule
scans and choose to have harmful items removed or quarantined automatically.
If potentially harmful software tries to run or install itself on
your computer, Windows Defender notifies you and helps you choose
how to take action. And you can receive the latest spyware updates
automatically.
The problem is when you
come to use it on networked PC’s. As yet, Microsoft does not
have software that can be centrally managed so installing it on
networked workstations can affect settings inherited from the server.
In this instance, we recommend getting in contact with us for the
best ways to protect your workstations from spyware threats.
The
best news is that for all licensed Windows users, Defender is free.
To protect your PC, go to Microsoft.com and download it now.
